"Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger Blog Award"

Congratulations, your blog has been nominated as a Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger Blog!

The award was created to honor those whose blogs who exemplify the qualities Katherine “Kitty” Katt has -- those who always stay cutting edge, who always find the fun, the funny, and the cool, and who are always one step ahead of the competition.

The “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger Award” is only given to the amazingly awesome, so get down with your bad self, you’re deemed worthy to run with the A-C’s! And you’re also one step closer to being in the running for some cool prizes. (Contest is international.)

Now you get to spread the awesome by nominating other bloggers who are also harder, better, faster and stronger than the average blog bear. Not everyone’s as cool as you, so choose carefully!

Your mission details:
  1. Slap the graphic on your blog.
  2. Give link props to the person who gave you the award (keep the hard, best, fast and strong on your side!).
  3. Spread the awesome and nominate five (5) other bloggers who you think exemplify what it means to be cool, fun and cutting edge.
  4. Let the recipients know they’ve won this honor on their blogs.
  5. Last but not least, shoot Gini Koch an email at gini@ginikoch.com and let her know you’re the best of the best of the best, sir! (put “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” in the subject line!) by sharing that you’ve been nominated and telling her which other bloggers you nominated, and she’ll enter you into the “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” Contest. Find out more details and what the loot is at http://www.ginikoch.com/winstuff.htm.

Of course, you can choose to ignore your awesomeness, but then you’ll never have a chance to nab your own A-C or win the loot. And you know you want both.

Contest runs from Wednesday, September 28, 2011 through Friday, October 21, 2011.

Comic-Con Swag Packs of Bodacious Awesomeness Giveaway!

FOR HOOK ME UP! ONLY -- INTERNATIONAL CONTEST

I went to Comic-Con 2011, got to be on a panel with awesome authors, meet fans, act like a huge fangirl, and generally have a blast…and all you’re getting is…a chance to win a literal cornucopia of goodies! Contest is for Hook Me Up! subscribers only, is international in scope, and will run through Wednesday, August 17, 2011.

And Here Come the Packs...*
…cleverly named for actual Comic-Con events and attendees. ‘Cause we bring the full entertainment experience, baby!

The Hall H Swag Pack
The big cheese. Something from everything, including the most exclusive of exclusives: a Comic-Con keepsake program signed by me and every other author on my Speculative Fiction panel. No one else in the world will have this with these 8 autographs. There will be other signed goodies, including a set of Alien Series posters, all signed by moi (yes, including a poster for “Alien Proliferation”), buttons, posters, T-shirt, sunglasses, cap, line chair, books, and more. And when I say more, I MEAN more. This is the Swag Pack all others want to be when they grow up.
Winner: Maria Atkinson

The Room 20 Swag Pack
Close to the Hall H, but featuring a focus on Covert Affairs, Psych and Ringer, along with signed goodies, including a set of Alien Series posters, all signed by moi (yes, including a poster for “Alien Proliferation”), buttons, posters, T-shirt, sunglasses, books, and more. And again, I MEAN more.
Winner: Van Pham

The Exhibit Hall Swag Pack
Posters, posters, and more posters, many signed, all cool. If it can curl up and fit into a mailing tube, it’s in here. Includes a set of Alien Series posters, all signed by moi (yes, including a poster for “Alien Proliferation”). You’ll be able to wallpaper at least one room with the contents of this Pack, maybe your whole house.
Winner: Anna O'Brien

The Mysterious Galaxy Swag Pack
This is the pack particularly loaded with books, sample chapters, other reading matter, as well as a sampling of other awesome Comic-Con stuff, and both an exclusive Jim Butcher/Dresden Files T-shirt and an exclusive Brenda Novak scarf (which I wanted to keep for myself BUT am handing over to this Pack’s winner because I’m a giver, me).
Winner: Cheryl Lloyd

The Allen Gregory Swag Pack
Focused more on the little ones, this Pack features an exclusive Allan Gregory baseball cap, masks, and other coolness focused on the kids, and those of us who will remain kids forever. Includes a set of Alien Series posters, all signed by moi (yes, including a poster for “Alien Proliferation”), buttons, and all manner of other fun stuff.
Winner: Camille Minor

The Val Kilmer Swag Pack
Val was a surprise attendee at the con this year, and what’s in this Pack will be a surprise, too. Trust me when I say that you’ll get signed stuff, cool stuff, and other stuff. This one goes to the contest entrant whose witty, urbane, and all around awesome smack talk on the Blog either makes me snort Coke through my nose or go “awww” the most often. Yes, this is the only pack chosen by moi instead of the Gods of Random.
Winner: Julie Jones

By the way, when I say “Pack” I MEAN “PACK” and when I say “stuff” I mean “awesomeness”. Each winner will get an exclusive Comic-Con Swag Bag (some may get more than one) chosen at random by me, along with other Comic-Con firsts and exclusives. All the Bags are cool, most are huge, all were handled by moi and probably used to get swag home, so they’re REAL, baby! All the Bags are Comic-Con exclusives, too, making them bodaciously awesome.

Swag Pack contents subject to change, based on what might not have made it home safely without being trashed. Packs also subject to being increased and/or doubled in availability, ‘cause I’m not kidding when I say I got a LOT of swag.

"Worth Your Weight in a 'Gator Battle Award"

Congratulations, you’ve won the honor of being Worth Your Weight in a ‘Gator Battle!

Your mission details:
  1. Slap the graphic on your blog post.
  2. Give link props to the person who gave you the award (don’t rile a ‘gator fighter -- it’s dangerous).
  3. Spread the awesome and nominate five (5) other bloggers who you think will be worth their weight in a ‘gator battle.
  4. Let the recipients know they’ve won this honor on their blogs.
  5. Last but not least, shoot Gini Koch an email at gini@ginikoch.com and let her know you’re worthy of running with the A-C’s (put “Worth My Weight” in the subject line!) by sharing that you’ve been nominated and telling her which other bloggers you nominated, and she’ll enter you into the “Worth Your Weight” Contest. Keep reading to find out more details and what the loot is below.

Of course, you can choose to ignore your awesomeness, but then you’ll never have a chance to nab your own A-C or win the loot. And you know you want both.

Contest runs from Wednesday, February 1, 2011 through Monday, February 28, 2011.

So, What're the Prizes Already?

Gator Pack One: The Tango Surprise
The big Kahuna. This Pack has the ARC (my precious, my precious) along with a complete Fight the Fuglies Kit containing: a personalized, signed copy of “Touched by an Alien”; a pen; a signed can of “Everhold”; all in a Limited Edition Gini Bag. And if that’s not enough, toss in 2 cover flats for “Touched by an Alien” and “Alien Tango”, posters of “Touched by an Alien” and “Alien Tango”, postcards, magnets, an Alien Collective baseball cap, and an Alien Collective mug, in an Alien Collective tote bag.
Winner: Julie Jones (from My 5 Monkeys)

Gator Pack Two: Gigantagator Pack
No ARC, but still pretty impressive. This has the Fight the Fuglies Starter Kit containing: a personalized, signed copy of “Touched by an Alien”; a pen; a signed can of “Everhold”; all in an exclusive “Alien Tango” tote bag. Gator Pack Three: Alliflash Pack
No ARC, but nothing to cry about, either. This has the Fight the Fuglies Starter Kit containing: a personalized, signed copy of “Touched by an Alien”; a pen; a signed can of “Everhold”; all in an exclusive “Alien Tango” tote bag. Completing the ensemble are 2 cover flats for “Touched by an Alien” and “Alien Tango”, “Touched by an Alien” and “Alien Tango” posters, postcards, magnets, an Alien Collective baseball cap.

(Yes, Gator Packs Two and Three are almost the same. ‘Cause I love both ‘gators equally, that’s why.)
Winner: Shiori

Catch-22’s, Gotchas, Legalese

This is a worldwide contest. You must have a deliverable address (no P.O. Boxes, please).

In some cases, the “Everhold” will not be allowed to go international. In that situation, a different piece of swag will be substituted.

Contest will run from Friday, October 1 through Friday, October 15. Winners will be announced week of October 18. In order to share the loot at least somewhat fairly, once you win a Gator Pack, you're out of the running for any of the others.

Winners should receive their Packs in 4-6 weeks. If it’s going to take longer for some reason, we’ll let you know.

Depending on the winner’s location, the “Alien Tango” ARC may ship out separately from the rest of its Gator Pack.

So What's in the Poster Packs?

Poster Pack #1: Get 'Em All
This Poster Pack has everything I could get my grubby little paws on at CopperCon, including huge, movie marquee-sized posters for "Kick Ass" and "Australia" (Hugh Jackman HUGE...'nuff said). Still large but not giant posters for "The Expendables" and "Prince Caspian". And small, regular posters of everything including: "Sherlock Holmes", "Scott Pilgrim", "Salt", "Knight & Day", "Resident Evil 3D", "The Last Airbender", "Going the Distance", "Robin Hood", and "Legion"...plus LOTS more. Not enough? Get a pirate button AND bookmarks signed by awesome authors Weston Ochse and Dani Kollin.
Winner: Amber Scott

Poster Pack #2: Bigger is Better!
This Poster Pack has the big stuff from CopperCon -- two movie marquee-sized posters of "Australia" (Hugh Jackman huge AND wet!), large sized "Prince Caspian", and two big "Expendables" psoters. You also get some regular posters for "Legion", "Resident Evil 3D", and "Inception". It's also got a pirate button, a "Scott Pilgrim" bookmark, and a signed bookmark from author Dani Kollin.
Winner: Katie Dalton

Poster Pack #3: Small and Mighty (books, not my character, sorry)
This Poster Pack from CopperCon knows that smaller doesn't mean less...it means more. Posters from "Inception", "Resident Evil 3D", "Going the Distance", "Ghost Writer", "Cop Out", "Legion", "The Expendables", "Salt", and more! Plus, you get a NeverendingPanel.com bookmark and a signed bookmark from author Weston Ochse.
Winner: Marty Shaw

Catch-22’s, Gotchas, Legalese

Contest is open internationally, but international winners may be asked to cover postage (depends on what you win and where you are). Therefore, if you’re international and not willing to share in postage costs, please don’t enter.

Contest will run through Monday the 13th (9-13-10); winners will be announced on or around September 15th. In order to share the loot at least somewhat fairly, once you win a Poster Pack, you're out of the running for any of the others.

Contest will run through Friday the 13th (8-13-10); winners will be announced week of August 16th. In order to share the loot at least somewhat fairly, once you win a Swag Pack, you're out of the running for any of the others.

Winners should receive their Packs in 4-6 weeks. If it’s going to take longer for some reason (like deadlines, of which I somehow have more than when I left for the Con), we’ll let you know.

Awesome Comic-Con 2010
Swag Pack Giveaway!

For Hook Me Up! Subscribers ONLY!

Yes, Comic-Con 2010 was awesome! I had a great time and much of that time was spent getting all the swag it was possible to get. I have scads, cascades, TONS. And I got it all (well, most of it all) for YOU!

How to Win
  1. Be on my Hook Me Up! subscribers list. (Not on Hook Me Up! yet? Send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with “Hook Me Up!” in the subject line…and do it today!)
  2. Respond as instructed to the Hook Me Up! messages that will go out during the week of August 2nd. (Yes, you can join Hook Me Up! after the contest starts, but you’ll lose out on chances to win.)
  3. Cross the digits that you’re one of the winners selected at random!

So What's in the Swag Packs?

Lots and lots of stuff! So much stuff that there are swag pack themes.

Theme One: The Ultimate Experience Pack
The big enchilada. Something from everything, including the piece de resistance: a Comic-Con keepsake program signed by me and every other member of my Superheroes Superfiction panel (that’s 8 autographs in all)! Other signed goodies, buttons, posters, books, t-shirt and more. This is the one the other Swag Packs want to be when they grow up.
Winner: Becky Boyer

Theme Two: Comic-Con Vamp Pack
Comic-Con loves vamps, though probably not as much as you all do. Posters, fangs, stickers, sample chapters and more.
Winner: Jessica Chiou

Theme Three: The Readers' Pack (books, not my character, sorry)
This one is what it sounds like – it’s got books, both full-length, sample chapters, and an ARC (to be named later), plus the standard Comic-Con goodies.
Winner: Chrissy Peterson

Theme Four: Poster Pack
Again what it sounds like. Comic-Con’s big on the posters, and I brought home a LOT of them, some of them signed by artists or authors. Coming at you in a big ol’ tube, meaning there will be other things in there as well.
Winner: Cathie Veres

Theme Five: Grab Bag Pack
Sounds left-over-ish, but isn’t. Some of all the other packs and other stuff combined.
Winner: Cris Olguin

By the way, when we say “Pack” we MEAN pack. Each winner will get an exclusive Comic-Con Swag Bag (believe me, these things are incredible), chosen at random (by me, based on what fits the theme or, more importantly, the shipping method). All are cool and pretty darned huge. And, as a double, so to speak, all have been handled by moi, and possibly used to help ship the swag home. So they’re EXTRA special!

But, what of the other "Stuff"? Surely there's more?

There probably is and probably will be. Anything not shipping out in the Swag Packs will be available for the asking off of my Free Stuff page. (No, we won’t be posting pictures. Send an email, I’ll tell you what’s left.)

Catch-22’s, Gotchas, Legalese

Due to the sheer weight and volume, international winners may be asked to cover postage (depends on what you win and where you are). Therefore, if you’re international and not willing to share in postage costs, please don’t enter.

Swag Packs contents subject to changes, based on what might not have made it home without being trashed. Packs also subject to being increased, and/or doubled in availability (the Poster Pack especially), ‘cause I’m not kidding when I say I got a LOT of swag.

Hook Me Up! Exclusive Contest Winnahs!

Check it out, gang -- all the coolness in one place! Keep your eyeballs peeled for the next contest and remember, you too could be a winner...next time...

Week One Question: What are the neames of all of Kitty's pets, both living and presumed deceased?
Week One Winner/Answer: Tracie Rollins
Mickey, Minnie, Carradine, Oingo, Boingo, Candy, Kane, Sugarfoot, Duke, Duchess, Dottie, and Dudley
Prize Selected: $10 Amazon gift certificate (used to *sniff* pre-order "Alien Tango")

Week Two Question: What/who's your favorite fugly from "Touched by an Alien"? (Name and/or description.)
Week Two Winner/Answer: Carien Ubink
I have to go for 'Grandpa' Mephistopheles. It's because he's not just a fugly, but an intelligent fugly. I love my baddies to be intelligent and charismatic I must confess.
Prize Selected: Limited edition signed Gini Bag ('cause style is EVERYTHING)

Week Three Question: Who is your favorite male character in "Touched by an Alien" and why?
Week Three Winner/Answer: Brooke Nelissen
Do you even need to ASK me that?! LOL. READER. Because he's hot and sassy and totes Kitty's soul mate and I keep the hope alive for some Reader/Kitty/Insert hot guy here action down the road.
Prize Selected: $10 iTunes gift card ('cause tunes MATTER, baby!)

Week Four Question: What is it you like best about Kitty?
Week Four Winner/Answer: Amber Scott
Oh man! There's so much I LOVE about Kitty. Her bottomless purse, her sense of humor, the fact that she gets to kiss Martini. I totally dig that she didn't have a clue about Christopher. I was right there with her on glare #4. My most favorite thing, aside from Jeff, is that she thinks so quickly on her feet. Panic later. Act now.
Prize Selected: Signed and personalized copy of "Touched by an Alien" (signed to and sent to her sister...what a sweetie!)

Prize List
  • Limited Edition Gini Bag
  • $10 Amazon Gift Card
  • $10 iTunes Gift Card
  • Signed & Personalized Copy of "Touched by an Alien"
